Hiya,

I will be competing in my first tri (sprint, with a pool swim) in May and have a quick question for the girls.

What do you wear?! A tri suit, or tri shorts and top? Any particular brands you can recommend?
Also, I am worried about support. Do you/ can you wear a sports bra underneath a tri suit? Does this restrict you during the swim?

The last thing I want to worry about on the day is a wardrobe malfunction!!

Any advice appreciated,

C.

Hi I’ve just competed in my first sprint tri last month I swam in tyr tank top bathers with a sports bra underneath and line break shorts then for the bike and run I put on a running tank top over my bathers.
I didn’t go for the tri suit as I didn’t know if I would like tri's and didn’t want to fork out the money for one.
I was surprised that other more experienced competitors will actually offer advice at the start of the race unlike any fun runs I’ve entered. Let us know how you go Good luck Have Fun

I've raced in Orca and Cannibal tri suits and they are both quite supportive to run in and very slick to swim in, with a comfortable and small chamois for cycling.

I used these for olympic and half ironman distances. For sprint distance, most people don't find the bike ride too painful, but a pair of tri knicks might be a worthwhile purchase (cheapest at a race expo), because they give a bit extra comfort on the bike without chafing on the run.

Thanks girls,

I appreciate it. You are echoing my thoughts Daffy, in that I am not quite ready to outlay the money for a tri suit, yet want something functional. I think I will end up getting a tri top and knicks - at least I can comfortably wear a bra underneath and not be disqualified for public nudity (!) and if I don't like the tris I can use them for training.

Cheers,
