Hello, I am interested in giving triathlon a go and am interested in joining a club in Melbourne. I am a very average runner, swimmer and cyclist and was wondering whether anyone knew of any clubs that cater well for the beginer triathlete. I have seen that Yarra Triathlon Club run a beginers course, any feedback on this will be welcome.
Presently I swim a few times a week, run 3-4 times per week and cycle twice a week.
Thanks
Yurtie
If you're training that much you won't be a beginner for long.

I'd check the Triathlon Australia site for local clubs and I'd also log onto forums.transitions.org.au for some friendly people to train with.

go to www.trivic.org.au and click on clubs.

there is a complete list of clubs in Victoria.

I am a member of Taylormade, which has been of great benefit to me.

Hi gitanna13,
I'm a current Yarra Tri club member and also involved with Triathlon Victoria. The TriVic clubs page lists all the Victorian clubs, and is probably a good place to start looking for a suitable club.

Yarra's try-a-tri group runs often (probably about now?) for the upcoming season starting 14th November at Brighton and Shepparton. I know many club members who started triathlon this way. You can give yarra a call on 9205 5522 and talk with James about the try-a-tri group. Yarra itself hold a lot of sessions in the pool, open water (at Elwood), runs (track and road), bike, brick, ergo. spin. There are too many to list andtoomany workoutsto attend. They run most things at Collingwood, Richmond and Fitzroy (more once it reopens with the new pool). It's probably best to do try-a-tri first, then decide which sessions or coaches work best for you depending on your objectives. There alsomay be another club closer to where you live orwork that may be easier to attend.

If there are any more questions then please ask and I'd be happy to help you out.

I also can vouch for Yarra Tri Club ... the coaches are always happy to give loads of advice and guidence ... I did the try-a-tri course last year and it was the perfect, no stress way to get into the sport :)
