With 1 month to go, it might be a good time to start seeing what sort of interest there is for entries to the
Long Course Triathlon held in Huskisson on 12th February.
From memory, I believe Plu, highway man, rooster and queen bee may have been interested?
Any other takers? Anyone looked into accommodation down there yet?

If I get a lottery spot for the big one I'll give it a miss. Otherwise it's a possible.

When's the lottery actually drawn lezan? I know a few CRs who are hanging out for that. Last time I looked, the number of confirmed entrants for IMOZ was up to 1250 or so ...
Notwithstanding, you could always do both! I'm using Huskisson as a part of the training schedule for the big one

Hi Miners,
Great to hear that you are going to do Jervis Bay(Huskisson). I am also planning on doing this race. Cannot wait to get out there. Will be using it as part of my training for IMOZ. I have booked accomodation but have not entered the race yet. Will probably book by late next week. Take care out there and lets make sure we catch up.

I will be there trying to get a good result for points for World long course titles team.
Rumour has it that a certain Aunty is going to make an appearance at this race :) ....but I can't confirm these rumours at the moment. Can anybody else help out here?

Unfortunately I won't be there due to work on the Gold Coast.
I too am hanging out for a lottery spot for IMOz. Apparently they are due out on 22 January which leaves us 10 weeks of training. It's difficult to be motivated to train for IM if you're not in. At the moment I'm hedging my bets for either Port or the 6 Foot & Canberra Ultra combo. Keeping up my long rides and decent run mileage, but will find out in a bit over a week what's happening with the big hit out.

Hi All,
I am planning to do the Long Course Championships. Also my mate, whom I started out running with 22 years ago, Bernard from Exeter will be doing it. Two time Foster IM.
Just need to enter and organise a place to stay.

Has her the secret training at Penrith Lakes and the new Freeway been spotted?

Post number and year
I have been matching post numbers to years while the post numbers are relevant. This is post 1987. In 1987 I was turning 27 and after a huge 1986 I continued running and triathlons. A Bowral mate Glenn and I went to NZ and competed (No:1865) in 3 triathlons a mountain race and two ocean swims in 18 days. We cycled from Youth Hostels further on the morning of the race than the races themselves! I also dabbled in canoeing. Another Bowral mate Jonesy and I went in the NSW Canoe Marathon Championships and we got 4th in the C2 Category.

Tubby is in.

Great to see there'll be a few of us there. It'll be great to catch up, and meet some new faces too (I can't believe I'm going to miss QB again though - I'll see what I can do to manipulate the lottery draw up here for you ;) )
Plu (and anyone else interested), I'm shoring up some local numbers for a possible apartment booking next week. I'll let you know if we find a good spot in case the two of you are in need of a bed. I'm looking forward to meeting the fabled Bernard from Exeter!

Thanks Minersrun,
You've prompted me to book accomodation and enter this race.
It seems perfectly placed in the lead up to Port Macquarie and should be a good training session/test race to see how the training is progressing.
I look forward to catching up with as many of you as possible down at Jervis Bay. Maybe for a pre-race ride or post-race beer.
Cheers

Hi All,
Miners I spoke to Bernard today and will be driving to Exeter on Monday morning to go for a brick session with him. He has been down there (family lives in Nowra) over xmas and checking things out for me. I will let you know what we are up to.
Still need to enter.
BTW: Highwayman I plan to front at 6:00am in the morning for the 100km from Hornsby Pool.
cheers Plu
Post number and year
Still doing the post number and years. This is post number 1989. In 1989 there were other priorities. I was settling into my married life, still living in Bowral and studying, though I was doing one Nepean Tri a year and half marathons such as Lane Cove before they built the freeway.

See you there.

Thanks Uncle & B+!
I'm actually crapping my pants about the whole race. I'm feeling good for the bike leg, and the run.... still nervous with that swim :)
Miners - look forward to seeing you there.
Rooster - can't wait to catch up again, it's been a while. ;)
QB - good luck with your entry... I shall keep my fingers crossed for you.
Cheers AK :D

after 4 years away from triathlon and with fitness at about 20% it would be totally stupid and irresponsible to even consider this race one month out.
i'm gonna enter tomorrow.
p.s aunty k you'll be fine- the swim is no big deal and if it's sharks you're worried about stay near someone fat. ;)

Great to hear you will be doing the race Aunty K.
I too find the swim tough, the good thing about the swim though is that it is the first leg and the shortest leg of the race, so it is usally over before you know it and then you are on to bike and can look forward to the run :) Remember that you have been doing the training so you will do fine.
Good to see you taking the plung freespiritfitness I am sure you will do well.

I have camped (virtually) right on the run course for the last 10+ years..... I covered the run course a few times in the last few weeks and know where the swim is taking place. You guys are gonna have a ball at this Tri.
I am 99.9% sure the beach has a shark net where the swim will be.
Just thought I would bring this back up. Do we have a final list of confirmed competitors?
I'm in but I do know Aunty is out.

Wow B+ - what sort of training are you doing? Your posting was recorded at 2.36am!!!
Unfortunately, Aunty must have heard that I too am a scratching for the race, and then realised there was no point in going herself.
Expenses have become a little too tight for me I'm afraid ...

Miners, that would be the reason i'm not going now! :P
The list so far:
B+
Rooster
Tubby
Plu?
Have fun you lot, i'm sad I won't be there. <_<
Cheers, AK ;)

I knew that would be the reason Aunty ;) We'll have to make up for it with another tri before the season ends!
Unfortunately, I know Plu is another non-starter. And I belive Rooster may be concentrating solely on Port too now?
There's a heap of Port Mac training buddies of mine heading down though - at least a dozen or so.

Miners,
I spoke with the lovely Rooster on Sunday night... he is a DEFINITE starter for Jervis Bay.
Yep, looks like I may have to see you at Port Stephens?
Cheers, AK ;)

Without wanting to keep this thread slightly off topic for too much longer - there is NO WAY in the known universe, barring near-fatal injury or the arrival of the four riders of the apocalypse, that I would miss Port Stephens.

Yep, sure will! I had attended such a occasion once before... and yes they do know how to party! :D :D :D
Now, back to the topic of Jervis Bay!
Cheers, AK ;)
Well Minersrun with Kids etc i need to train early so i just posted on my way through transition from my bike session to going for a run :D ;)
I think the time should have been 4.36 though? I was training really hard for Jervis bay as I was told you were racing but now that you have pulled the pin I can relax :P
Aunty is out but is Uncle in???
