did one in that series last year.
obviously you don't event think about a wetsuit for the second swim.
also the second swim feels really weird as you still have the running heartbeat going (faster) and you kinda have to wait for it to drop until you get into your swimming rythm.
transitions count for everything. forget about two pairs of shoes (cycling and running). use runners only

these are great fun, was really looking forward to going in this one, but not going to be able to do it <_< they should have more of these if you ask me... they really are a lot of fun :)
just race like you normally would, you should actually be able to do the 2nd one faster than the 1st one... obviously no wet suit for 2nd swim and dont forget to take your runners off for the 2nd swim! you'd be surprised how many do it.
fun fun fun.

I've done the last two and looking forward to next weekend. I think the main mistake I made last year was trying to hold something back for the second time around. I ended up negative splitting the second time round and was left feeling I should have gone harder. This year I'm aiming to smash myself on the bike and run the first time round, and on ethe second swim. Swimming after a run doesn't worry me because my usual Friday swim has me running 4km to the pool and 4km home (which I started doing specifically for training for this race).
Mikey, sorry to hear you won't be competing (just posted in a.b askign if you were in or out).

Just got home from this one so here's my race report.
Swim conditions were perfect, plus the tide was out so you could start swimming about 10m from shore which is great when you have short legs (I hate people running past me when I've already started swimming). It was a pretty messy swim but at that distance it usually is and I was happy enough with a time around 5 mins. The ride out was harder and slower than I expected but after the turn realised there was a slight breeze and coming back was more downhill so I averaged a bit over 30kmh which was right on target. The first run was a shocker. After 500m I had a stitch (first time in a tri) and after 1km thought I was going to throw up, so had to ease off a bit, but still ran a decent time (for me) of about 10min.
The second swim is what I love in this event and I managed to get into a good rhythm and pass quite a few people, came out of the water feeling very fresh and had an improved second bike leg. On the second run the stitch came back at 1km, but with only 1km to go I didn't care if I threw up at the finish (I didn't) so just kept going. Finished with about the same time as last year, and I suspect fairly even splits between the two legs, so I'm satisfied with that seeing my training this year has been a shocker.
Now for a nap. :D
