2006 ACT Rogaine Championships - 8th-9th July 2006

Online entries are now open at http://act.rogaine.asn.au

This year's event will be held in an area of lovely beaches and lakes, rocky coastline, coastal heath and banksia scrub, mixed eucalypt and casuarina forest with a dash of rainforest in the Bournda National Park and Nature Reserve. If you're lucky you might spot some glossy black cockatoos!

Altitude ranges from sea level to around 300m. There are numerous walking trails in the National Park for less experienced rogainers, while the Nature Reserve has very few tracks and will present some navigational challenges for those teams aiming to complete most of the course.

Pre-event teaser photos are on the website to whet your appetite!

The event is based at the beautiful Hobart Beach campground (hot showers!) on the shores of Lake Wallagoot - entry fee includes camping on Saturday night for all teams in both the 8 and 24 hour events and also full catering from 5pm Saturday through to Sunday lunch. For that reason the entry fee is the same for both events. 8 hour competitors are strongly encouraged for safety reasons to camp on Saturday night and enjoy breakfast before driving home. All competitors are welcome to camp Sunday night as well - pay at the event.

Entry fees are $55 per non-concession team member, $40 per student, pensioner, or unemployed.

ACTRA will provide a bus to the event for the heavily subsidised cost of $35, which includes camping on Friday night. The bus will leave the Jolimont Centre at 6:30pm on Friday night and will return at 2pm on Sunday afternoon. If you aren't interested in the bus but still want to come down on Friday night, then camping is available for $5 per head.

Bus bookings need to be made by June 21 - this is so we know how big a bus to book - empty seats cost money! Seats may be available after this time, but no guarantees.

Those driving to the event will need to pay Park entry - $7/day ($14 minimum - pay at the entrance) or buy an annual pass. Driving time is around 3.5 hours from Canberra, 6 hours from Sydney and 8 hours from Melbourne.
