Hi guys,

I have done some serious Googling tonight to try and find some good online triathlon communities (such as Cool Running is for runners).

Does anyone have any recommendations? I would've thought Triathlete Mag (US) would have a great online community although it appears not.

Cheers,

I think the main one is transitions

There is also a new one you can find at http://www.triathlontimes.com.au/forum/

It'sonly new but some good topics have been covered and not quite as off topic as Trannies but still fun, or you could try http://forums.multisportal.com/

Multisportal is very on topic so don't try and post off topic stuff over there or you may get shouted down. Note I only said MAY.

There is also slowtwitch, which is alright as well I suppose, if you want to discus any and every topic ad nauseam, head over there.

Transitions isn't half the site it used to be I'm afraid, you have to sift through a lot of crap to get to the good stuff, which is a shame as there's a lot of very knowledgeable people there.

Multisportal is heavily cycle based, but a lot of experience and knowledge on that site too and hardly any crap because it stays on topic.

Transitions originated from the ashes of the old Ironman Australia forum (called OzChat). People basically gave up on the official IM site forum after it was shut down for long periods of time after an Ironman one year, and there was a lot of dicussion of whether it was a form of censorship. Transitions has a poor signal/noise ratio, and you will find lots of off-topic posts, happy birthday greetings and other junk. Slowtwitch has a lot of interesting information on their website, though their forum can get off topic (especially on US race topics, which don't always interest people in Australia). Although I've lived and raced in North America even I struggle to stay interested in topics on their forum.

That's about it really for Triathlon.

There is also SleepMonsters for those who are bent towards Adventure Racing.

Thanks to all those above who posted links wink.gif

Pity there isn't a fully endorsed/embraced Oz Tri forum. I suppose the more serious athletes are too busy training and not posting!!

There is also trinewbies.com
and beginnertriathlete.com
These are both US sites butthe beginner triathlete does seem to have some Australian participation.

Agree on the transitions comments which is really frustrating. The best forum that I have found for beginer triathlon is coolrunning. There is some really good advice here (miners, B+ etc) for runners dipping their toes into triathlons - which I plan to do in 2007.
