We are seeking feedback for a mountain running ,mountain bike relay and to see how much interest is out there for such an event.

Great idea Stalky, count me in if the one person can do both and make it a Duathlon or similar

I would be in for a team/pair event, as I have lots of mountain-biking friends who are forever complaining that I'm always too busy running to do stuff with them.

More details please! Would it by any chance involve my favourite training ground?

I was thinking about this today. Sounds cool to me.

Entered both Brook's Muddy-Buddy events in Vic held about 5years ago. 10k ride / 5k run, teams of 2 held at Debortoli's vineyard in the Yarra valley. Fantastic fun, very sad that they no longer run them. PLI ? never got an answer. sad.gif

I think this sort of event would be a great idea, and would personally love to do it! I did a MTB duathlon up Cessnock way last year, and whilst it was great fun, riding a mountain bike across paddocks and along a few dirt roads isnt really mountain biking? A lot of my mountain biking friends also showed an interest in such an event, but when I told them the riding part was basically on paddocks and dirt roads, there interest level went downwards very quickly! Whilst any form of "race" is physically hard, if you make the riding part fun with some technical single trail, the event would appeal to a wider range of participants!

Yes it would Tony, If this gets off the ground I would try to have a figure 8 course so riders would not bump into each other yahoo.gif and the mountain bike course would be over hilly and technical single tracks of about 15-20k the bikes would start first and the run would be over the same ground covered by the bike riders that way I would eleviate the risk of a runner getting Knobby tyre marks over them.
