Anyone doing the Raby Bay tri this Sunday?
Just wondering what the water temp is like down there? Swam in a non-heated pool this morning at 5:30am and it was pretty darn chilly... I know the ocean is warmer but maybe those canals are a little shallower/closed off from the ocean?
Should I bring a wetsuit or just hit it in my tri-suit?
ps. out of interest, what's a good time for this distance (400m/15km/4km) ??

I'll be down there, sans wetsuit. Looking forward to it. Should be a good morning and a nice wat to finish out the tri season.
The swim should be well and truly

As for overall times, when I raced on this course late last year (my first tri) I did 1h02, so I'd say anything sub 1h is decent

As a Melbournian, I'm just a little curious to know what sort of water temperature is considered cold in Qld.

Hey guys,
I work two streets away from this race, and if it weren't for the Brisbane Marathon and a busted hip I'd be there this weekend too.
It will not be cold. The swim is so short that you barely get wet. I have NEVER seen a wetsuit anywhere near this race.
BOM is predicting a min of 17 degrees and a max of 28 for Sunday (air temp.).
Seriously, this will not be cold. Bring your wetsuit, but you probably won't even be alloed to wear it, let alone consider it...

Well that was quite a bit of fun. Was my first tri actually... Finished in 56.08 mins but I think I could've done low 50's if I didn't eat the bitumen when that crazy BUS drove onto the course !! Did anyone else nearly get killed ??? He drove right onto the course and around the first roundabout to turnaround for the 2nd lap as about 8 of us were coming down the hill on the bikes, full tilt - there was nowhere to go except to crash! arrgh. Picking pieces of bitumen out of your knees during the run isn't particularly fun. Was a great day otherwise...Soooooooo didn't need a wetsuit btw, it was unusually warm on Sunday.
