Can any triathlete CRs recommend a bike shop in Melb (pref north of the Yarra) that does good bike fits eg flexibility- or biomechanically based?

Not fulfilling your criteria, but you may try http://www.cyclefitcentre.com/ in NSW or http://kennedycyclefit.com/MultProfiles/11...-9658/Cycle-Fit here in Vic.

I've never been to John Kennedy but there is always a lot of debate around his methods on aus.bicycle whenever the question of fit comes up. If you are just looking to improve the fit on your current bike, you would want to make that very clear before shelling out for a fit there because a recommendation for a custom frame is not going to help if you don't have the budget for it.

I got fitted up by Leon at Ormond Cycles (I think that's the name but I'm pretty sure it's the only bike shop in North Rd, Ormond anyway). I'm from north of the city but it was well worth my effort venturing south as I've always been happy with the fit job he did. This was on a new bike he sold, but I'm pretty sure he also does fits on existing bikes for a fee.

2 things......

1st: Stay away from Kennedy. He only going to tell you that you need a custom built frame and that his are far superior to anything else.

2nd: go and see Chris Newman @ Freedom Machine 245 Chapel St Prahran 9510 1010. He will give you an unbiased opinion regardless of whether or not you are buying a bike from him.

I recently had my bike set up to a tri position by Top Gear Cycles in
Balwyn Nth and love it! They had a computer program which measures all
the angles ie knees, back, neck etc and then altered the position to fall
within a certain range. I agree with previous posters- Kennedies is known
as a very out-there positioning system in the bunch and always manages to
raise debate!
Hope that helps
