Decided to take the plunge and commit to doing a triathlon!

Yay! laugh.gif

Confident I have the fitness to get through it (target being to finish happily, not be an actual contender) but haven't done any swimming since I was a kid.... or cycling that's not stationary for that matter!

So now that I've signed up for swimming lessons (start Sunday) I just need to buy a bike and I'm set!

Oh, and decide how to train.... hmmmm.....

There's a 600/20/4 event here in Adelaide on the 25th of November. That's far enough away, isn't it?

Anyone want to recommend some sites with handy training programs? huh.gif

Next months Runners World (Sep/Oct 2007), which arrived in the mail the other day, has an article for runners who want to train for a Tri. They have a rookie and veteran plan and information on different types of workouts. Doesn't mean much to me but could be a starting point. Good luck.

RunRunRun - I'm not a triathlete but there is a good site 'Trinewbies' for beginner triathletes.

RRR - if you change the title of your topic you will get a heap of responses from knowledgeable CR's.

Thanks coups, but that's OK - there are plenty of similar posts that already contain a wealth of info ... guess I mostly just wanted to gush my excitement!

Next piece of exciting news is snapped up a great bargain on a second hand Cannondale tri bike off ebay. Picked it up last night and I'm stoked!!!

gee they wouldn't have an interest in converting some runners to triathlon would they??

the people who own runners world also run a triathlon series at various venues along beach road during summer. did they also suggest that you visit www.triseries.com.au ? who interestingly have Hahn beer as their main sponsor this year.

don't know if they hand out free product, but it would make more sense afterwards than before..
