I notice Helmet's off the bike in a nice, easy to calculate average speed time of 6:01:24, which has got to put him in line for a fantastic sub 12 debut. Looking good Rob, bring it home son!

Great to see that the Bunny has made it through the bike leg and no doubt will be relishing the run leg home.

ERB - awesome!! Well done, massive congrats on getting to the finish line and fantastic time too.
I wish they would fix the updates - not being able to monitor people on the track an athlete is sooo frustrating!!
Go Aunty K, hope you make it home soon.

One tough day full of lessons I had to learn. Way too hard on the bike early and ruined my stomach. In top 10 for most of the bike. Did not get the stomach back until 35 odd into the run. Flat track pacing strategy does not work too well in the hills. Full report as always to follow but I did manage to run a 5km pb of 19:27(actually 5.2) the last section of the race. Hah! As if run 3:44min/km at the end of an ironman. Probably helps that I walked most of the way to that point. 10:53 something. Humbling. Vegemite sangas were my saviour.
Swim 1:02
T1 3:something
B1 1:37:20 – 36.99km/hr (only 5 minutes slower than Mitch ) Stomach went at about the botom of MFD.

commiserations on the pedal? problem, will.
really feel for you after the investment of time and effort.
i hope you get to 'spend' your current fitness on another race soon and get a PB or something.... busselton HIM?
----
plazbot, thanks for the figures showing a good old fashioned blowup. you could've slunk away and resurfaced later, but it's a great warning. kinda gutsy to put them out there.
-----
happy recovery to everyone, and if it didn't go to plan then i hope you get to use that base to do something else soon.
(my 07 IM didn't go how i'd like, but i ran a marathon PB 2 months later and then felt that the training hadn't gone to waste.)

Was trying to work out Plazbot's timings last night and was thinking "that can't be right - he's done a 3:15 mara before" - thinking it was my tiny brain unable to work out the figures. Shame Plazbot and Will, but thank you for sharing the lows as well as the highs.

I'd go faster too if it prevented me from being hit by a rubber chicken!!
I know Mango has been training hard, and his race plan looks like it all went to plan...so i conclude that B+ must have chased him around the M7 and Penrith with a rubber chicken, just to get that extra ounce of effort!!! Actual quote from his training plan " 10 min rubber chicken intervals - 90% effort".
