Since the South Bank lagoon is open again I thought I could squeeze in some free swimming after PCRG on Thursday. But how long is it? I like to have some idea of how far I have swum.

I think it's just the beach that is open?

I much preferred the actual lagoon part of it but I'd say that won't be re-opening for ages.

Sorry, can't answer your question.

Try using gmap pedometer. Switch to satellite view and zoom in.

Not sure which one you want to measure

I measure the big curved beach as 115m, and the northern pond to be about 40m at the longest point.

Thanks for sharing. smile.gif

Yes, it has all been cleaned and refilled. I used Mike's idea of Gmaps and it looks like the deep section is about 50m. Had a swim this morning. the water was beautiful.

I haven't been back to Southbank since a mate and I were chased out of there by security guards about 12 years ago.

Have they still got that boat that goes along the canal? We stripped down to our speedos and goggles and did a quick 100 metre swim in front of the boat from the Exhibition Hall to the pub. It was a packed evening and the crowds on the bank, in the boat and those on the pub terrace were going off. The security dudes were shouting at us and running alongside on the bank and pushing through the hordes to try to keep up with us while we were swimming. We just broke stroke once to give them an impertinent wave. That just pumped up the crowd even more. We then jumped out the opposite side to uniforms, just in front of the pub, took a quick bow, and then raced through Southbank in our Dickstickers being followed Benny Hill style by half a dozen security guards.

Buck's night. These things happen. laugh.gif

Great story Paul but I'm sorry to tell you that the boat hasn't been there for years so I guess no chance of a repeat performance. smile.gif
