Hey all
I have done a couple of HIM this season (Gold Coast & Port Mac) and I am heading down to compete in the Geelong HIM. All in preparation for 2008 OzIM. It is the first time I have competed there and don't really know what to expect. ohmy.gif
I have read all the information and get the idea but can anyone give me some first hand opinion of the race/course.

Cheers biggrin.gif

i'm entered for geelong too, but hadn't bothered to read anything.
have done an olympic distance down there which went...
swim, protected, deepwater start, lots of jelly fish back then
bike, undulating.
run flat with a bit of a rise at one point.

basically in geelong they can't do anything that is too worrying. but i'd be interested to hear a better researched analysis

My wifes cousin has asked me to do the run leg in a team-apparently her tri club is short a runner. Unfortunately I wont be able to but if anyone else feels like just doing the run, send me a message and I'll pass your details to her.

I did most recent Geelong half IM and have done a couple of other events there. Corio Bay has been flat as a tack for the swims I've done there - like a pool. 3 laps on bile out on the Port Arlington is a little up and down, surface can git a little rough thru the gardens. One short steep hill out of transition other flat to undulating. Run was 3 laps, undulating. Great event, well organised and wil definitely be heading back this year.

Cheers

Looks like your bike will be 5-10 minutes slower than Coomera depending on your base time. Run same same (as last year) and swim may be a tad longer? Not first hand but from comparing dudes I train with that raced.

That would be because the swim was a washing machine! It was the worst swim I have ever competed in and I have done a couple (around 10 HIM IM) of races now... The start was all arms and legs as usual.. and stayed that way for for probable about 1.5k... i have never felt so sh@#! in a swim before, even Port IM wasn't that bad!

The run course is great, not boring at all.... bike was ok... extremely well organised and even with that swim it is definately a race I would recommend and go back for!
