Spot, I could possibly have my arm twisted to come along for a few sessions...C&P is on my way home from work and a 6pm start would work well - having said that, would the stroke correction at the 'Bergs be better for a beginner? Not feeling overly confident at the moment though...
I can swim 1k non-stop but it's veeerrrrrrry slow (I often get over taken by breast strokers in the slow lane to give you a hint) - would it be advisable for me to get flippers? I reckon I've had some bad habits slip in (or settle in further) since I learnt to swim last year and discovered I could swim laps. I think I was so happy to swim 50m laps non-stop that I began to care less about my technique!
I could possibly benefit even more from the group cycles as I am as bike-phobic as they come (really only get out on the bike under sufferance)
Hi Beki (& other rookies),
we use flippers as an aid for helping adults learn to swim.
The biggest single mistake inefficient swimmers make is not breathing correctly.
It's all about blowing bubbles & doing so at the right time.
Kids squads is 90% stroke correction, adult fitness squads are 95%(+) fitness - hmmm!
I always tell people to do 1 stroke correction session per week (at least). This includes my star athletes!
Salt water pools like Bondi Icebergs, Boy Charlton & North Sydney are great for rookies as you float better!
25 metre pools are also better for stroke correction as you practice little bits properly. We split the pool into 2 x 25 lanes on Saturday stroke.
