This might be a bit of a sin asking this question in a running forum (considering a certain conflicting event), but just wondering if anyone is doing the last Gatorade tri for the season this sunday at Raby Bay?

I did want to do the 10km at Brisbane Marathon but as I'm doing Byron Bay tri I thought I should use this Sunday to experiment with gels, etc.

I really enjoyed the Raby Bay course last time I did and recorded some great times. I'm looking forward to the event on Sunday.

Ugh. You didn't miss much.

I would have been better off doing the 10km at Brisbane Marathon.

I wish I had.

C'mon, gives the blow by blow pls.
No matter what happens, every race, every event and every training run is a learning opportunity. E.g. with Byron Bay coming up, today was meant to give you some things for that .e.g was it your first wet suit swim today and you discovered the challenge of taking it off in a hurry when wet and puffing? you'll need to practice that for Byron etc.
What will you do better next time based on what you learned today?

Sunset, I know that you are not in the right mindset for doing triathlons at the moment so well done for getting out there and doing it anyway. That takes great mental strength.

Maybe I'll blog about it later this week... still too traumatised at the moment unsure.gif

As for Byron... I'm trying to get rid of it.

Sorry to hear that you had a rough day, I kept an eye out for you and PH on the course but didn't see anybody I knew.

I had a great day. The swim was a bit cold (wetsuits allowed), and I think it may not have been a full 400m, or maybe there was a current assisting. 5:40 for the swim, and I've never done that in the pool.

I went into the run with the (ambitious for me) goal of getting under 16 minutes. By the time I checked my watch at the finish I had 16:08, so thought the official result would be closer to 16:00. The offical results came out with 16 minutes neat, so not quite sure whether I can celebrate cracking 16 minutes. I think I'll just be happy with the PB and leave getting under 16 as my current goal.
