For those interested, Ironman Germany is on at the moment .

Chris McCormack is leading the marathon and will probably break the course record of 8.09. He needs to run 2.46 (possible) to go sub-8 hrs and 2.36 (unlikely) to break Luc Van Lierde's world record.

Chrissie Wellington is smashing the opposition despite losing one of her water bottles. She has less than 10km to go in the bike and will enter T2 with a huge lead.

Go Macca !
miners
and go Chrissie smile.gif

did I ever tell you the story of when ...
Spud
Macca first in 7.59:55
5 seconds under 8hrs, classic!

Watched it live!

Great sprint finish to get under 8hrs.

Dug deep and then cruised till the last bit when he realised he could get under 8hrs.
Spud
Yeah he lost the lead but dug deep to get it back. Looked like he was cruising high fiving then realised with a hundred meters to go he could break 8hrs...Gold.

I also stayed up to watch Macca sprint the last 100m to come in just under 8 hours. Great work Macca !

I just read that Chrissie came in 31 seconds shy of Paula Newby Fraser's world record. Her time of 8.51.24 obliterated the rest of the women's field with 2nd place (Nicole Leder) over 25 minutes behind. Absolutely awesome.

Amazing time by Chrissie.

Awesome to see Macca win here, now to see how he fares next weekend at Roth. huh.gif

If that is directed towards Miss Chrissie, then I think the feeling is mutual. Did you know she mentions you twice by name in her blog? smile.gif

Link to blog?

BTW - has MAcca got a chance of breaking 8:30 next weekend? Me thinks not.

Not that miners needs to be reminded but I believe this is what MissZ is referring to.

As far as Macca is concerned Roth was always going to be his 'B' race between the two IM's. Let's hope he still does well.

I think he will give it a red hot go at Roth. This is a man who is not used to being beaten and doesn't like it. And he has nothing to lose. If he crashes and burns, he has a great excuse. But if he can win or even just race well, he sends a message to his competition for Kona.

Sub 8.30? Definitely.

I agree with Miss Z. If he races, (ie doesn't pull up injured), I think he will go under 8:30.

I had to laugh at Sydney's Daily Telegraph today, which reported that Macca had gone under 8 minutes for the Ironman. shok.gif
