Hi

Ok I was told to stop running 4 years ago after they discovered quite a bit of OA in one knee. While I was never a fabulous runner, I really loved doing it. One thing I always wanted to try and never got around tto was a triathlon.

i was wondering if anybody knew of any mini triathlons in the sydney area. I can do the cycle and the swim no worries (they are reccommended actvities for OA), but I was wondeirng if I couldnt sneak in a short run of 3km or less just this once, even if I end up walking it, just for the experience of doing a tri.(i would probably do running training in the pool/and power walk on dry land.)

Hill Tri Club have these a lot - they have "Enticer" distance, which are designed to give you a taste of Tri's, in a non competitive environment. Its a 250mtre swim, 10km bike ride, and 2.5km run. And since they are club races, if your not up to the arranged distances ( for instance still not confident in the open water etc, or have injury preventing you from running ) then its no problems either - the race director will simply organise a variation for you.

Check out: http://www.hillstriclub.com/ and click on the Tri Series label.

I am sure other Tri clubs have similar events too.

Sure we're a long drive away, but if you're ever up at Port Macquarie on holidays (and who wouldn't be?) then we'd love to see you out having fun with us.

We hold short sprint races every 2-3 weeks, and offer a half distance option - 250m / 10m / 2.5km. And we won't hold it against you if you decided to walk or cut-short the run either smile.gif For that matter, you could enter the full Sprint (500m / 20km / 5km) and complete as much or as little of the run as you feel! $10 entry for either race for first-timers.

Next season's calendar should be up on our website within the next couple of weeks. Check it here Port Macquarie. Make sure you PM me if you, or anyone else is ever coming up our way. All welcome cool.gif

There is also the Pink Triathlon in October in Sydney.

There are a number of different distances and it's for a good cause. I'm in for it. smile.gif

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Edit: The Pink Tri is for girls only btw....
