Does anybody know if a bi/duathlon of just swiming and cycling (no running) exists?
Solace
Hi and welcome.

Yes they do. I am by no means an expert as this is an area I am just starting to look into myself, but I understand that most triathlon clubs run duathlons during the winter months.

My local tri club is running the last duathlon next month before the summer tri series begins.

Interesting question in a running forum! I suspect you won't get too many replies. You may want to try the transitions forum. I've never seen just swimming/cycling races but not to say they don't exist.

Ooops, I must read things properly before I respond.

Cycling/running, yes.

Swimming/cycling, not that I have heard of.

Sorry. smile.gif

Nothing at all wrong with running!!!! I used to love it, however I was diagnosed with arthritis in the knees 4 years ago and had to stop. I'm hoping against hope to find somehting to replace it. It's a bit desperate i know - kind of like trying to get over any great love wink.gif

I ahve heard that they run them in the states, usually in tandem with a triathlon. I think thye call them "aquabike" events

(altho an 'aquabike' to me is one of those floating things with massive wheels that you paddle around a lake on)

I have not heard of any swim/bike events.

Maybe you could consider doing a full triathlon as part of a team and do either the swim or bike leg?

At the moment I'm injured with Osteitis Pubis, but I can cycle and swim. So maybe there is a market for us 'broken' runners.

find a runner and make a tri team you can do 2 legs

Ive run for pople at tri's before no prob

Just as an observation, the team matching for Noosa Tri currently has 11 entries. 10 of them are after swimmers. 2 are after cyclists and 3 after runners. (Some after more than 1 leg)
Team Tri would appear to be a good way to do it.

Hi Nikel

Haven't heard of any tris with the swim/bike combo, bike/run is quite common tho. As others have mentioned you can go in as part of a team. Other alternative would be to go to a normal tri but just complete the first 2 legs, or walk the run.

Cheers
