Alas Thommo I won't be there this year. Who knows, I may even make my Nepean Tri debut next year...

Did the enticer last year and loved it.

May do it again this year.

This is my one concession to the evil world of triathlon each year - I'm a far more accomplished tri-spectator than tri-athlete - but I'm looking forward to it. Guess I'd better start getting back in the pool again. Oh yuk! fool.gif

yes, you certainly should sir.

I'm not sure about this one. Car troubles last year left me stranded at the Central Coast, so my entry fee went begging. Will have a disc wheel this season though - so thunder alley is beckoning cool.gif

One of my favourite races last year - lots of fun.

Will be back this year for sure!

Hi there

I am new to this board but have a query regarding the Nepean Tri. Is the swim leg 1km or 1.5km, as there seems to be conflicting info on the Nepean Tri site?

http://www.nepeantriathlon.com/entry.html

But everywhere else on the site it suggests only 1km?

Thanks for that, I thought that might be the case, so was very confused when their site suggested otherwise. :-)

So, were you up for a rematch of last year's race Burglar - although I think I will need a handicap as I have been in full hibernation mode over the winter months blush.gif

A couple of weeks out from Busso should be good timing for this event biggrin.gif

I'm in!

Cool ! C'mon miners, you know you want to wink.gif

I propose we have a CR tri challenge at the Nepean tri. Haven't given much thought to a handicapping system but the obvious prize is bragging rights for the next 12 months tongue.gif

I've had this event pencilled into the diary for a while now. I'm hoping to see you all there!

Unfortunately with the way I am going with injury at present it's not looking too good.

I just might make my Nepean tri debut this year. Mind, I've been umming and ahhing about it since 1996 or so. biggrin.gif

Nepean is a fantastic event, but if you guys want a challenge then the place to be on 16 November is Canberra for the Sri Chinmoy Triple Triathlon. Swim 1.5km / MTB 35km / run 20km / swim 3.5km / MTB 40km / run 12km / swim 1.2km / MTB 24km / run 13km. Its one not to be missed.

EDIT: Sorry for hijack, I know its bad manners. I will start another thread.

Yep since NF100, nothing happening in terms of training, a hip injury and the last 3 weeks on holidays in France. But very keen to get back into it...

Ha, yes - on the agenda for 2009 that one. I know Mr Every has completed this one before. Wonder how many other CRs have done it solo ... ?

Sadly, can't make it to nepean this year due to too many commitments.

Did it a few years ago in a team- Yurtie did the three swims, his mate Justin did the bike legs, and I ran the three run legs for a total of 45km running. Great fun, great event. Would love to do it again sometime, and as a solo would really rock.

Confirmed by Race Director today that swim is 1km. They will be correcting their website.

Also Cooldry race shirts for finishers. Like last last year's type for those who did it last year.

Now all I have to do is stop getting injured. Did my left hip flexor on Wednesday.

Very clever Thomo. I was not on the same wavelength at first in relation to your comment.

1. Yes no swapping cars at the last minute leaving the googles goggles in the other car where they normally are so I wont forget them.
2. Yes I have no idea why I ripped off the HRM and chucked it in the bag after the swim, not knowing I did that and and spent the rest of the race wondering where it was. I was even looking in the water for it during the run.

NTR - I would have no chance at all fitting into green and gold wetsuit - it fits better on you Colin and Spud- I was 74 kgs in those days.

Anyway last year they would not let us wear them and to be honest my wetsuit compensate for little swimming - hence I was 3 minutes slower in the swim last year.
Love the banter in the lead up to this race.

cheers PLu

I am in the process of starting swim training.

I have been advised to warn the swimming centre of my arrival so they can empty the pool of a few thousand litres of water so it doesn't overflow when I dive in.

sorry guys - just realised this weekend clashes with a wedding I was invited to waaaaayyy back in March (hence my brush with senility).

It's also a date that our Club have had to nab for one of our Club races. So looks like I'm out for another year sad.gif

(besides which, I'm still injured and not running anyway ...)
Woodenlegs
I'm interested in the Enticer, can you enter as a team in this event? I'm unable to run at the moment due to injury.
Curt
G'day all,

I've just entered the enticer (which will be my first triathlon).

I can swim ok, I cycle regularly for fun and fitness but I really don't run regularly. I can cover the 2.5km of the run leg kinda ok at the moment, but I'm looking forward to seeing whether or not I can put it all together. My legs feel like jelly when I run anyway, so I'm not sure how much more 'jelly' they'll feel when I've just jumped off the bike during a real event. ohmy.gif

I've had a look around the forums and have read a lot about doing a first triathlon, so I'll be putting some of that info into practice. Thanks everybody for the heads-up.

Just one question: is there any time when people can actually swim at the course prior to the day? Is there a regular 'swimming safe' day or time? I just figure that even though the swim is not too long it couldn't hurt to go for a training swim at the regatta centre some time.

Cheers,
Curt

Hey everyone,

I did my first triathlon on Saturday, triathlon pink. I loved it, thought it was awesome and went looking for more triathlon events..... I was really excited when i found out about the Nepean Enticer, and up until a few hour ago thought i could compete in race 2.. Im 23 so i now see that i cant =o( I wouldnt make race 3, not fit enough yet (im trying!!!)

Are there any other events coming up where i can get in and have a go? I really enjoyed triathlon pink and would love to have a go at another short event soon...... Or can i just enter race 2 as an old looking 10-13 year old?

Thanks,
Michelle

Hey Michelle,

Not sure of any short tri's coming up, but my best advice would be to join your local triathlon club. Most race at least once a month and they are usually sprint (short) events. My local club (Mingara) on the central coast runs races on the last sunday of each month. 400m swim 16k ride and 4k run. They also have shorter option.

If you check out the NSW triathlon website you should be able to find a club near you.

http://www.trinswrace.org/

Good luck and have fun.

Welcome to CR Curt and good work on registering for your first triathlon good.gif You better be careful though because tri's are highly addictive and before you know it you will be watching youtube videos of the Hawaiian Ironman and thinking 'What if?.....' wink.gif

With regards to swimming at the Regatta Centre, I'm not sure you will get a chance to swim the course before the race but Panthers tri club have in previous years (during daylight savings) organised a Friday morning swim at 6am. I don't think these sessions have started just yet though 'cause it's still a little too dark at 6am and you can't see what's lurking in the water ohmy.gif
Alternatively you could call the Regatta Centre and check if their schedule.

Good luck on the day and have fun !

Edit: sorry, apparently the Friday morning swim is for Panthers club members only.
