With 4 weeks to go before Sprintman, I need to get myself a TriSuit. I've made up my mind to go with a suit.
My bike shop had last season's stock, but have nothing in my size and aren't sure when they will get any new season stuff in.
I've been looking on the web and found this:
http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=C6030
Descente Elevation Tri Suit (Cardinal/Black)
I don't about quality, but the size has me wondering.
According to their sizing chart I' have the height of a Large, but the waist of an XLarge.
I assume it'll be similar for other brands too.
So, the question is, which way to go? If I go the large, is it gunna get around my "waist"?
If I go the XLarge, is it gunna gape and take on water in the swim?

glad you explained yourself Tyno. When you said "stuck in the middle" I had an impression of a beans and frank incident ala Something about Mary ohmy.gif

When going for a tri-suit it's probably better to go for the smaller of the 2 suits. Provided the height is correct, it'll be a comfortable fit. If you get something too short, then either the shoulders or the crotch will be pulled tight and it will be uncomfortable. But you don't want something that's baggy or loose anywhere at all.

With regards to the waistline though, the good thing about trisuits is that the waist is not tight or elasticised at all. i.e. you may not fit into a large tri-knicks which has a definite waist, but as there's no 'waist' to a trisuit, it will simply mould around you without pulling or restricting you at all.

Never tried or seen any of the Descente tri-gear in the flesh. But they make very good quality cycling clothing, so you shouldn't be going too far wrong.

I agree with Miners ...better to be snug fit than loose.

Well, that's what I've done. Now just hope it is 7-10 days not 28 days for it to arrive.
I did have a bit of concern about the cold water, but that's why you use a race number belt, right? wink.gif

Well, it came in the post today. (5 1/2 days from order to arrival from the UK)
I'm glad I went the large and not the XL.
I will be testing their zip craftsmanship around the midsection a little though blush.gif
Now to practice getting into it without busting something.......

they're always a bit tight getting on. Depending on the brand, they could be pretty snug around the thighs too, so don't rush when you're pulling them on. And most importantly, take your time when you're pulling the shoulders over. Obviously do one at a time and lean your shoulder into it so you don't unduly stretch the material by hooking an errant elbow into the material for example.

Also check for clearance under the armpits. If it's a bit high, you may need some bodyglide prior to going for your first swim.

Best of luck smile.gif

After my first session in it, I really like it.
Have to be careful of my chest hairs with the zip, but it was really comfortable.
I think I'll get another one and one for Kay too.

I just ordered the exact same suit from Pro Bike Kit too (different colour so we won't clash at the Sprintman), $70 + $19 postage. Ordered it Friday night and received it this morning (Tuesday). I ordered some Continental GP4000 tyres and tubes too at half the price you get them here. Last night however I found an Australian online seller in Coolum who has this suit for $55 +$4 postage. Oh well, I needed the tyres anyway. Will try the suit tomorrow and see how it goes. I ordered the medium but my height and waist are borderline medium/large so I went the medium based on some of the above comments. Hope it fits.
