The 8th World Rogaining Championships will be held in Estonia this weekend. The event web site has the team lists here with 57 Australians entered. Any CR's amongst them.

The competitive Australian teams are David Rowland and Greg Barbour (actually NZ) who have won WRC's in the past. Julie Quinn-multiple WRC winner-and her partner David Baldwin-winner of WRC titles-will be competitvie in the Mixed Open Category. Pipi won this Australian titles with Julie and David. Plus many competitive veteran teams who have also won or placed in the past.

After the 37 degrees C of the Warrumbungles in 2006 this one will be wet event underfoot and from above.

I posted the following at http://www.attackpoint.org/discussionthrea...p/message_89264

"In the mean time you can attempt to select the winners and placegetters! See http://8wrc2008.rogain.ee/feedback.php?tid=140

The winners of womens division of ERC 2008 maybe the stand out team in the womens category-Burlinova Anna, Safronova Irina. http://www.rogaine-spb.narod.ru/erc08/rgn20.htm

Mens? Chris Forne and Dennis de Monchy, NZ are back to defend their win in 2006. Seidl Miroslav and Boranek Petr, Czech Republic won ERC 2008. See above link. Rowlands and Barbour will they add to their resume?

Mixed? Julie Quinn and David Baldwin, Aust are back after winning the mixed in 2004 and Julie winning the Womens in 2006 have remained in form in Australia with emphatic Australian title wins in 2007 and 2008. Raimonds Lapins, Anita Liepina and Guntars Mankus, Latvia, Mixed WRC 2006 winners will they add to their impressive performance from 2006 and earlier WRC's?

Otherwise it is a mystery to me? Any strong performers amongst the small British contingent. I'm sure there are amongst the East Europeans and there are amongst the other nations.

By the way do no tell anybody but 9WRC 2010 will remain in Europe either Czech Republic or Ukraine. Just don't tell?!

Good travelling and successful rogaining."

Further information has also been posted on the Sleepmonsters Adventure Racing web site.

Hi there Flat Feet;

My boss is over there and is competing ... and competing at the highest level.

I could stand corrected, but I think she actually holds the No. 1 position in the Women's World Rogaining ranks ... her name is Heather Logie. A fantastic person and one super fit lady.

She entered the North Face this year in May, and was 1st woman over the finish line, and came in 11th overall.

We have wished Heather well at our work, and I hope you may have updates for me to follow her progress, when she takes part tomorrow.

According to her recent blogs, the areas where she is to run are heaps wet; water everywhere.

They are off at 20:00 AEST.

Your boss Heather Logie and Susan Sprague-team 327-will be strong. The Australian, Kiwis and other will have to counter the stranger in a strange land factor however the strongest have done so in previous WRCs.

Any news? Any one? Flat feet???

I've tried checking the website out, but can't seem to find anything.

They should be finished by now ... apparently in the rundown to contestants, it was advised that they wear double pants due to the severity of stinging nettles in some parts of the course. I grew up on a farm and know about stinging nettles ... but to wear double pants; these must be some honeys of nettles!!

Results http://8wrc2008.rogain.ee/failid/resultstable.htm A win to Russia with the NZ winners in second place 4 points behind and the next team 12 points further back.

David Rowlands of Australia with his NZ partner Greg Barbour was the highest placed Australian in 11th overall and 2nd Mens Veteran.

Good spread of Nationalities in the top ten.

First Mixed team from Russia at 7th overall-female member was highly placed in the European Championships this year in a womens team.

Heather and Susan finished 3rd in the Womens field an outstanding performance in this field.

Do parents of CoolRunners count? Ann and Arthur Ward placed 13th in the Mixed Super Vets. I haven't spoken with them yet, but suspect they might be a tiny bit disappointed after placing 4th two years ago - I'm pretty proud of them though!
