Just noticed there's far too little Triathlon related threads on the main page
So while it might be early days, some of you can at least start booking ahead in the 2009 calendars that seem to start making the rounds of the offices and book-shops at this time of year.
There's a series of kids races for ages 6 up to 15 on the Saturday afternoon. There's also a 1km sheltered ocean swim for ages 15 yrs+ at Saturday lunch time.
The Senior Race starts at 8.00am on Sunday morning. 600m ocean swim - 28km bike - 6.5km run, including the now famous grassy knoll

On a km per $ basis, we reckon it's arguably the cheapest triathlon on the coast!
All details and entry forms can be found here at the
Port Mac Tri Club website

Great to hear Paige - and when you say locals, are you meaning other CRs, locals up your way, or locals of the Hastings itself? If it's the latter, I guarantee I can find you a team before then.
For your info, the swim is undertaken entirely within the curved beach area next to the "race precinct" located within the rivermouth. I'll post a map when I get home
Will be great to catch up with you again.

I am defiitely there this year, after missing the last couple for various reasons. I hope the weather does the right thing.
It's a beautiful part of the world - almost as nice as Forster

Hi Miners, for the last two years in February I have headed up to Port with a Canadian friend to do a week of solid prep for Ironman. If we do the same this year, I'll see if we can coincide it with the CHTri.

(note to self - ring TA with sanctioning changes on Monday ...)

just another bump to remind anyone that may have been thinking of entering to get their postal entries away by tomorrow

Don't hit me with a late entry fee - the cheque's in the mail. Honest!
I filled out the entry at the start of January and only just dropped it in the postbox yesterday.
Expect a large turnout of Forsterites at Dunbogan next week - it's Club points for us if we race!
See you there.

Hey Miners
Is there somewhere to get changed at Dunbogan before/after the race?
I don't fancy driving up from Forster in my lycra, or home in the same, but sweatier, apparel.
Public toilet will do fine.

yes, there's a public toilet less than 50m from transition. male/female and even a disabled toilet for yourself

nice work with the mantra mate - I'll hold you personally responsible for the hot-box we encountered over the back of the hill before the run turnaround though!
Great to see everyone from Forster there, and good to catch up with you as always. Hope you enjoyed yourself.

Thanks Miners
I had a great time today at Dunbogan - great course, nice people, spot-on organisation.
Yes, it did get hot later, but how much worse would it have been without that breeze?
Congratulations to Port Tri Club, and their Big Kahuna Miners, for putting on a cracker of a race - we'll get yers next year in the Club Challenge tho'
