In today's Redcliffe Herald - I read an advertisement ............ - Swim Ride Run - its in everyone - Moreton Bay Challenge.

I have just gone on the website - www.challengeseries.org.au

I find on Jan 30 to Feb 1st 2009 - there is and Olympic Distance Triathlon on my back doorstep!!

BUT - where have I been?? This is the first I have heard of it??? 23 days out!!!

I certainly would have had this on my calendar of events to train for - if I had known .............

I can't believe it!!

I looked an Triathlon Queensland site and couldn't see it mentioned - looked on TA site - and it is there.

Did everyone else know about this event except me????

Last year saw the inaugural running of the Jetty to Jetty half-marathon - this was well advertised in advance on the various places I look - I am just stunned that I have completely missed this!!

Anyone else out there like me or I am the only one???

Anybody who is anybody knows about the challenge series!
I definitely NOT entering, but I know a few people who are doing it.
A few guys from my squad did the official practice swim before Xmas. They had a horrible time due to a major SE wind.
52 and 54 minutes for the 1500m.

I hate to say it but, yeah, I knew about it. I won't be doing it though, unfortunately. I guess you also missed the trial swim for it held a couple of weeks ago too?

Whoooooooooops - lol - ah well - "duh" is me!!

I guess I will have to blame it on 2 weeks in New Zealand for the Auckland marathon, followed by 3 weeks travelling from Melbourne across the Nullabor to Perth!!!

Oh well- it will give me a chance to be a "volunteer" instead!! I've always appreciated what the volunteers do when I have been competing - so my turn to give a bit back!!!

I will agree that on the whole it has not been advertised well - you kind of had to go looking for it rather than it find you. Think it has a lot to do with the fact they are run by TA not TQa nd therefore the info is not passed aroundTQ/USM type events -I think they shoudl all learn to love each other.......

anyways - they ahve a sprint distance on the Saturday as well in the afternoon around 4pm wich might be different and as part of the entry you get a bag, towel and other goodies (hint hint USM) so will eb interesting to see how it is run compared to USM

i went looking for it the other day too and took me a few clicks to get to it

kind of like when peopel mention smaller tri out at toowoomba - where are these advertsed - it might be nice just to head out a few hours for frun one weekend and get away - does anyone know of a comprehenive listing in the SE?
