Hi,

I've recently started training for a couple of tris and the last few weeks have started a bit of swimming in Port Phillip Bay. I've been swimming at Elwood Beach between the two big poles in front of the pavilion there. Just wondering if anyone knew how far apart they are - I am shocking at estimating distances!!!! I just train for a set amount of time but would be nice to know roughly how far I've been swimming smile.gif

Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam,

Can't help you with the Elwood poles but if you can get yourself down to the Brighton Sea Baths, there is a comprehensive list of GPSed distances between all the poles from the north end of Brighton down to Greens Point and all the various markers and groins in between.

Mind you, a few egos wwere dented when the GPS job was complete. Seems that some swimmers thought they were swimming further than they actually were!!! I had to laugh when the generally recognised 3km circuit came up as only 2.3km
overunderaround
Its 210 metres pole to pole according to this website. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2533095
