Hi Everyone I've posted the following on transitions and would be interested in comments.

I want to go from tri training to more of a run focus whilst still keeping my fingers in the tri pie so I can get back into it summer.

Currently I do:

Mon - 2km Swim
Tues - 35mins run+35mins Swim
Wed - 35mins Cycle + 35mins Swim
Thur - rest
Fri - 90min run
sat - 2hr cycle
sun - 1hr cycle+30min run

I am from a running background and used to run 80-100km per week, but this was 2 or 3 years ago and I couldn't launch into that right now.

I was looking to target 10km and 21km races in July to Sept, any thoughts on a schedule?

welcome to CR. hope you had a good tri season. so, at present you're doing 3 of each discipline, with presumably some am and pm sessions, and some brick? i'm jealous of being to able to get in som many sessions actually.

in general, i'd be thinking to keep your hand in...
- keep 2 sessions of bike and/or swim to get you 4 per week running which is plenty with the others.
- aim to do straight run sessions increasing by 10% max
- get your long run to 2hrs (Sat looks best?), shift longer ride to Sun
- keep the longer swim mon (recovery day from big weekend)
- up tempo run of 40-50mins tues, easy wind trainer session p.m.
- one medium run of 90mins on wed, possiblke wind trainer p.m.
- recovery run thurs 60mins easy
- swim/ road bike fri

50-60k a week is plenty for 10k and 21k, especially if you've got the bike still.

as a sometime triathlete, the biggest thing i find i lose due to running is the bike times vs other competitors.

might help a bit if you give some idea of your likely or target times for the 10k and 21k, just to make sure you don't over or underdo it.

wish i could do that plan myself rolleyes.gif

yeh - noticed my bike times suffer a little when run training hard - the balance is very hard to find but kind of equals - you tend to catch those fast bikers on the run unless they are freaks (and there are a few!!!!)
