LOL
I was hoping to sneak back into town without someone asking me that, RKCJ.
In short, I had a shocker - with everything that can go wrong in a triathlon going wrong for me on the day.
To sum up, I was lucky to get done in 7 hours, after getting seasick in the swim (a first), getting a flat in transition (a first), strong headwinds and crappy road surface on the bike, back pain also on the bike, and a touch of heatstroke, dehydration and blisters on the run. I only started to come good on the second lap of the run, thanks to the volunteers continually throwing water all over me!
I ran for a while with Paul Every until I stopped to scoff jelly beans, and appreciated the GCR's from Paul's other half, the ever-lovely Diane. They were the highlights of the day, apart from standing in the pool after the race with a very expensive cocktail for a photo op.
Well, you get days like that and now I'm looking to the next one. If you can't do 'em fast, at least do 'em funny!
Thanks for asking, RKCJ.
